Bellevue University started its support of professional soccer with a partnership with Union Omaha, one that, according to Martie Cordaro, President of Union Omaha, is based on trust and community focus.
From there, the partnership expanded to include the entire USL, with the University becoming the first-ever official education partner of the league. As part of the partnership, Bellevue University grants a full scholarship to each USL Championship and League One team annually to be awarded to a player to pursue their undergraduate or graduate degrees.
“We’re thrilled to partner with Bellevue University and provide these life-changing opportunities across the USL,“ commented Josh Keller, USL Senior Vice President of Corporate Partnerships and Development.
Beyond the full scholarship awarded to each team, all players and staff and their families are eligible for enhanced tuition assistance.
“We have had numerous players take advantage of the opportunity to continue their education. Helping our employees achieve career goals has long been important within our organization,” said Cordaro. “This partnership aligns perfectly with that.”
